Transforming an outside dining area at Queen Mary’s Grammar School, Walsall

Queen Mary’s Grammar school located in Walsall, West Midlands is one of the oldest schools in the country and proud of its traditions having been founded in 1554 by Mary Tudor. Now a member of the Mercian Multi-Academy Trust, the school is committed to shaping a new and exciting learning landscape for current and future students. The school was looking for a solution to turn an outside dining area into a covered space students could use year-round. The area situated between school buildings was formerly an old car park converted into a playground, and was often unusable during inclement weather with the added problem of standing rainwater.
